Nobody knew why it happened or what caused it. That’s why the human race descended into chaos the way they did, without much resistance.
The humans didn’t have the weapons or the skill to defeat such creatures as they appeared to have no obvious weakness or blind spot. Even if they did it was nothing that anyone was able to see, only because they moved too fast for anyone to be able to see it. It started in small doses, just looking like the makings of a serial killer.
